Ood Sigma: We will sing to you, Doctor. The universe will sing you to your sleep. This song is ending. But the story never ends.
The Doctor: I don’t want to go.
— Tenth Doctor, The End of Time (Part Two)
And now we have reached the end of our month with the Tenth Doctor, and we stop here on his final episode. And even though I mentioned a few weeks ago that The Waters on Mars episode prepared me for accepting Ten’s last episode, it was still sad. Because the lead up to Regeneration redeemed him a bit. And even though it was time for him to go, his last line was so sad. And at the end of the day, ready or not, I didn’t want him to go either.
You might be wondering why I also posted the Ood’s line, because strictly speaking, it’s not necessary to explain Ten’s final words. I left it in because I loved the way it described the coming regeneration. Ten’s song was ending, his chapter was coming to a close. But the story wasn’t ending…nah… the story would continue with the next Doctor.
As will we, as next week sees our first installment of July with the Eleventh Doctor.
